In 2024, Jesper Munk celebrated his “return” to himself. After a lengthy creative break, which he spent mainly as a member of the Berlin post-punk band P.D.O.A. (Public Display Of Affection) and the internationally renowned industrial noise institution Plattenbau, he released “Yesterdaze” last year, the long-awaited, self-composed and ultimately highly acclaimed follow-up to “Favourite Stranger” (2018), following the 2022 cover album “Taped Heart Sounds.” On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of his most successful album to date, “Claim” (released simultaneously with the “best of ... live” album as a limited “10th anniversary vinyl edition”), Jesper Munk is now devoting himself once again to his early work, which he deliberately neglected at times for reasons of his own. The album “best of ... live,” to be released in September 2025, is a two-part double album featuring independent live recordings with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg and his accompanying band The Cassette Heads. It includes all of his evergreens, from the ‘Claim’ favorites “Morning Coffee,” “Shakespeare & Heartbreak,” “Courage For Love,” and ‘Reeperbahn’ to all-time favorites such as “Clean,” “Easier,” “Blue Shadows,” and “Happy When I'm Blue.” But of course, newer songs from the past “Yesterdaze” year are also included, as well as Jesper Munk's incomparable cover versions of, for example, “My Babe” (Little Walter), “Amsterdam” (Jacques Brel), “Head In The Cloud” (Mocky), “Christmas Card From A Hooker In Minneapolis” (Tom Waits) and “Salford Town” (The Dubliners/Luke Kelly), among others.
